# Configure Slack Features

> **Controlled Availability until October 29, 2026**
>
> These features are in Controlled Availability and become generally available on October 29, 2026. Until then, they are available only to organizations in the Controlled Availability program. To join, contact your Moveworks account team.

Enable the optional features of the [AI Assistant experience in Slack](/ai-assistant/chat-platform-experiences/slack/ai-assistant-experience-in-slack). Each setting is on your Slack bot in Moveworks Setup and applies to everyone who uses that bot. Work Objects also needs a change to your Slack app at [api.slack.com/apps](https://api.slack.com/apps), which a Slack workspace administrator makes.

To show the live agent's name and photo in Slack, see [Agent Name and Photo](/service-management/live-agent-handoff-assistant/live-agent-message-brokering-assistant#agent-name-and-photo).

## Before You Begin

* Your Slack bot is set up in Moveworks Setup. See [Slack](/ai-assistant/chat-platform-experiences/slack).
* You have access to **Moveworks Setup > Chat Platforms > Manage Chatbots**.

## Open Your Slack Bot Settings

The threads, native pop-ups, and Work Objects settings are all on your Slack bot.

1. In Moveworks Setup, go to **Chat Platforms > Manage Chatbots > Chatbots**.
2. Edit your Slack bot and expand **Chat Integration-specific Settings (Google Chat and Slack)**.

## Enable Threads

1. [Open your Slack bot settings](#open-your-slack-bot-settings).
2. Select **Allow Multiple Threads (Chats)**.
3. Save.

To confirm, send the AI Assistant a question in its DM. The answer appears in a thread under your message. Reply in that thread with a follow-up question, and the AI Assistant answers in the same thread using that conversation. For how threads use context, see [Threads](/ai-assistant/chat-platform-experiences/slack/ai-assistant-experience-in-slack#threads).

## Enable Native Pop-Ups

1. [Open your Slack bot settings](#open-your-slack-bot-settings).
2. Select **Enable Native Slack Modals**.
3. Save.

To confirm, ask the AI Assistant a question that a knowledge article answers, select **...** on the answer, and select **References**. The references open in a Slack pop-up.

## Enable Work Objects

### Step 1: Update Your Slack App

1. Go to [api.slack.com/apps](https://api.slack.com/apps) and select your Moveworks AI Assistant app.
2. Go to **Work Object Previews**, enable previews, add the entity type `slack#/entities/item`, and save.
3. Go to **Event Subscriptions > Subscribe to bot events**, add `entity_details_requested`, and save.
4. Reinstall the app to your workspace. On Slack Enterprise Grid, reinstall it at the org level.
5. In your Slack admin settings, allow Work Object previews for the app.

### Step 2: Enable Work Objects in Moveworks Setup

1. [Open your Slack bot settings](#open-your-slack-bot-settings).
2. Select **Enable Work Objects**.
3. Save.

To confirm, ask the AI Assistant about one of your open tickets. The ticket appears as a card that you can open.
